Intuit, founded in 1983 is the creator of QuickBooks with localization in the US, Canada and UK. Reckon, founded in 1987 is the distributor and reseller of QuickBooks Desktop in Australia and in 1998, Reckon expands QuickBooks into New Zealand and Singapore.

In 2012, Reckon decided to give up QuickBooks and Quicken and rebrands its product range. Moving forward, Reckon QuickBooks had officially changed its brand name to Reckon Accounts.
How to identify which developer your QuickBooks belongs?
If you are using QuickBooks 2012/13 and below, you are using Reckon QuickBooks. For user using 2013 and above, you may check the shortcut icon on the desktop to identify.

For Reckon Accounting Software User
Reckon had officially decommissioned activation for all version that is not supported, which mean that licence key request for Expired/Deactivated/Re-installed software will not be available. Reckon support 2 versions prior to their latest version, for example, the latest version is Reckon Accounts 2020, supported versions would be 2019 and 2018. If Reckon launch 2021 version, 2018 will fall out of supporting version.

You may wish to consider to upgrade to the latest version to avoid being locked out of the software, datafile upgrade is only available if you upgrade to Reckon Accounts. Version recommended would be 2009/10 and above. For 2007/08 and below, the user may faced 1) error during the upgrade and/or 2) figures differences in the report due to GST and/or Multi-Currency.
